My DBA Community,

My today’s post is very important for those who are looking for a job and preparing for an Interview. GoldenGate is a very hot technology these days. That’s why I am writing GG interview questions.

I hope these IQ will help you.

1)-Why you need supplemental logging enabled for Golden Gate? If supplemental logging is not enabled will my transaction get failed?

2)-If you don’t have PK/UK in your tables and those tables are the part of GG then how it will be replicated? or replication is not possible at all?

3)-What is the difference between CLASSIC and INTEGRATED EXTRACT? And how to identify if EXTRACT is classic or INTEGRATED?

4)-Why PUMP is mandatory or recommended to configure?

5)-Can we do filtration on the Extract side?

6)-What, if a transaction 2 is committed first and transaction1 is still uncommitted while it has started at 10:00, am and T2 started at 10:30. What will happen?

7)-What is the parameter to encrypt the data while transferring from local trail files to remote trails?

8)-Does INITIAL load require Archive or Redo?

9)-If Initial load extract fails In between, from which point it will start?

10)-If DB is in read-only mode, will checkpoint and archive process be available or disabled?

Hi Ahmad, thanks for your great efforts. it is very useful questions.
i faced recently goldengate questions like 1. parallel replicate and coordinate replicate differences. 2.explain oracle batch sql 3.oracle awr report replication wait events 4. oracle source side huse load is running that time lag happened is there any way to possible to fix or until wait. 5. Oracle integrated extract why using more cpu resources comparing to classic extract 6.if you faced any time goldengate replicate process hung situations , then how to fix. 7.what is unique constraints issue in goldengate bi-directional replication. 8.oracle veridata and logdump utility. Keep it up.
Could you please write a blog or explanation for types of extract like classic, integrated, parallel etc .. and how to identify them.
Also I feel Initial load(IL) using OGG is kindda grey topic as most of the times people dont use OGG for IL. Could you please elaborate concepts around question 8,9

Really appreciate your hard work to put together all this.
